Wiki101's Article Naming Policy defines how to correctly title articles on the wiki. Generally, article naming should always derive from an official KingsIsle source and the given name to the article, if there are multiple, should be recognizable for the majority of English speakers and readers.
General rules
- Use the canon name whenever possible. If the subject has more than one canonical name, use the most formal one provided in sources. (example: Neza instead of Neza the Poet.)
- Use the most recent/later name for something. Sometimes alternate names are given for characters, locations etc. and even if one of them is lesser known, the one that applies to a later period of time should always be used. (example: Penguinonia instead of Walruskberg)
- If no in-universe description exists for the subject, use a conjectural name and place {{Conjecture}} at the top of the article.
Specific rules
Characters
Unidentified characters
Character articles with conjectural titles should use "Unidentified" at the beginning of the title unless the title uses a possessive or relationship (example: Ratbeard's father).
Titles and aliases
- Titles are generally not to be considered to be part of a character's name (example: Connelly instead of Private Connelly), but exceptions can be made if the character is publicly known in-universe with a title in their name, an example of this being Major Mouse.
- If a character (like those within the League of Exemplary Personages) are more commonly known by their alias, then the article should be named for their alias with their real name (if applicable) being redirected into that article.
Real-world people
- Articles for real-world people such as voice actors and KingsIsle staff members should usually be titled according to their officially credited name in any Spiral Games Universe media, though some exceptions may be made.
- Article titles may be corrected for obvious misspellings if a person's name was misspelled in the credits.
