Voices of the Spiral (abbreviated VotS) is a fan project affiliated with Wiki101 which is dedicated to the research of the uncredited voice actors behind the many characters in KingsIsle Entertainment's MMORPGS Wizard101 and Pirate101. The project officially launched on May 11, 2022 with the very first post on the Voices of the Spiral Twitter account.[1] The Voices of the Spiral accounts and the project overall are managed by Wiki101 community leader and Extra Credits content creator Chris DeathRider.[2][3]
Since the creation of the project, Voices of the Spiral has publicly collaborated with KingsIsle on multiple ocassions, the first of which being a Voice Acting Roundtable co-hosted by Chris DeathRider and DemonAxe and featuring Kayly Ginsberg, Christopher Willis, Sam Johnson, and Mike Sears which was broadcast on DemonAxe's Twitch channel on March 28, 2023.[4] This was followed by an official Pirate101 teaser for the "Sinbad Chapter 2" update posted on May 5, 2023, revealing the characters of Tetsukado and Kharonchi Khan and their voice actors.[5] Since then, Voices of the Spiral and KingsIsle have co-presented multiple "VotS Specials" containing voice actor information for various game updates including the Wizard101Wallaru expansion, The Forbidden Library Gauntlet, and the Pirate101 "Through Death's Door" update, all released in 2024.[6][7][8]

2022[]
Voices of the Spiral was officially launched by project lead Chris DeathRider on May 11, 2022, accompanied by the first-ever Character Feature, showcasing Marc Pouhé as the voice of The Bat from Wizard101.[9]
2023[]

On January 13, 2023, Voices of the Spiral celebrated its 50th Character Feature by revealing Alexander Brandon as the voice actor behind popularly requested character Kane.[10] On March 28, Chris DeathRider of Voices of the Spiral and DemonAxe co-hosted a Voice Acting Roundtable which contained guest appearances from Kayly Ginsberg, Christopher Willis, Sam Johnson, and Mike Sears. The Roundtable was streamed on DemonAxe's Twitch channel.[4] On May 5, KingsIsle worked with Voices of the Spiral on an official teaser for Pirate101's "Sinbad Chapter 2" update which revealed the characters of Tetsukado and Kharonchi Khan (and their voice actors) for the first time.[5] On September 20, Voices of the Spiral celebrated its 100th Character Feature and revealed Lisa Nicol as the voice of Bonnie Anne.[11] On September 27, the "VotS Special" series debuted, with the inaugural one focusing on Pirate101's "Sinbad Chapter 3" update and the newly-recasted voice actors for Bonnie Anne and Meowiarty.[12]
2024[]

On January 12, 2024, Voices of the Spiral worked with KingsIsle again to publish The Stars of Wallaru, a "VotS Special" which publicly announced the voice actors for 45 different characters from the Wizard101 Wallaru expansion, the finale of Arc 4. This was notably the first time that KingsIsle had ever publicly released a "cast list" for one of their games.[6] On March 25, Voices of the Spiral received a new icon illustrated by KingsIsle's Principal Artist, Jeff Toney.[13] On June 10, the project announced that they were working with KingsIsle again to publish two new Specials entitled The Forbidden Library and Through Death's Door based on the recently released story content of the same names.[14]The Forbidden Library released on June 12, featuring 4 characters from The Forbidden Library Gauntlet for Wizard101.[7]Through Death's Door released on June 14, featured 17 characters and a "bonus" character from the Through Death's Door story update for Pirate101.[8]

Character Features[]
Voices of the Spiral frequently posts "Character Features" (or simply "Features") which showcase a voice actor and a role they voice with the game the character appears in denoted as well. The first of these, showcasing Marc Pouhé in his role as The Bat from Wizard101, was posted on Twitter on May 11, 2022.[9]
An extension of Character Features, sometimes a "VotS Special" will be published alongside or around the time of a major update to either game. Most notably, Voices of the Spiral collaborated with KingsIsle Entertainment for The Stars of Wallaru, in which the voices behind 45 different characters in Wizard101's Wallaru expansion were featured.[6]
