Wiki101

This article is about a fictional subject from the Spiral Games Universe.

"Welcome, young Wizard. You come to wondrous Krokotopia at a most dark time. We have been cursed ever since the one you call "Malistaire" arrived. Oh! The Tuts have come back to life to crush us under their oppressive fists!"
―Tinu Bhak'mal to the Wizard.[src]

Tinu Bhak'mal is a Mander that resides inside the Spiral Chamber located just outside of the Oasis in Krokotopia, greeting those who enter from other worlds of the Spiral. He was the first person that the Wizard encountered when they walked out from the Spiral Door from Wizard City.

Biography[]

Meeting the Wizard[]

When Ravenwood Headmaster Merle Ambrose caught word that Malistaire Drake was searching for the Order of the Fang's Krokonomicon, he sent the Wizard to Krokotopia to find the book before Malistaire did, as Ambrose believed that if Malistaire got it first he would use it to destroy the entire Spiral. Using the Spiral Key that Ambrose gave them, the Wizard stepped through the Spiral Door to Krokotopia and immediately was greated by Tinu Bhak'mal, who informed them of the great reawakening of the Tuts and the re-enslavement of the Manders. Bhak'mal told the Wizard to speak to Sergeant Major Sylvester Talbot of the Royal Expeditionary Force if they wanted to help rid Krokotopia of Malistaire.[1]

Lost Mander history[]

"Ooooh! At last, someone who can help me. Please take this parchment to Zan'ne at the Library. Yessss!"
―Tinu Bhak'mal to the Wizard[src]

Coming across the Wizard for a second time, Bhak'mal had them take some parchment to Zan'ne at the Krokotopia Library, presumably a story of Mander history as Zan'ne was compiling them.[2]

"Ooooooh, you need me to translate your glyphs? Yesssssss! I study glyphs as a hobby. Not many people do it, you know."
―Tinu Bhak'mal to the Wizard[src]

Not long after, the Wizard was told of glyphs pertaining to the Chamber of the Chosen on a statue in the Royal Hall inside the Pyramid of the Sun, and took rubbings of them. Zan'ne was not able to translate the glyphs, and so he sent the Wizard to Tinu Bhak'mal to translate them, as Bhak'mal studied glyphs as a hobby. Once he did, he informed the Wizard that the glyphs meant they needed to go to lower level of the Altar of Kings to find the Chamber. However, the entrance was blocked off. Despite this, there was an alternate entrance and the lost history of the Manders was found inside.[3]

Crafting a necklace[]

"Greetings, young Wizard. I was wondering if you could do something for me. I am in the middle of making a necklace, and just discovered that I'm going to need a Fire Gem. Can you go to Ravenwood and see if Dalia Falmea has an extra Fire Gem."
―Tinu Bhak'mal to the Wizard[src]

Later on, Bhak'mal began making himself a necklace, but whilst in the middle of making it realized that he would need a Fire Gem. Coming across the Wizard for a third time, he asked them if they could do him a favor by going to Ravenwood and asking the School of Fire Professor Dalia Falmea, who was savvy with jewelry, if she had an extra Fire Gem. The Wizard went to Ravenwood and asked Falmea for a Fire Gem, but after searching for a moment[4] the Professor discovered that she did not have an extra. Falmea told the Wizard to go to her supplier, Gustav Copperflame, who was the shopkeeper at the Ring Shop in Wizard City's Shopping District. Copperflame explained to the Wizard that he normally had Fire Gems in stock, as he embedded them in some of the rings he made.[5] However, due to high demand he too did not have a Fire Gem for Bhak'mal to use. Copperflame told them that Fire Gems could normally be found in the Dragon's Mouth Cave, next to the living flame. The Wizard removed a Fire Gem from the living flame and brought it back to Bhak'mal, who thanked them for their help.[6]
