Sylvia Drake (née Willowbark) was the former professor of the School of Life at Ravenwood School of Magical Arts prior to her untimely death due to an incurable illness. She was the wife of Malistaire Drake, the infamous School of Death professor. After her passing, Malistaire became obsessed with finding a way to bring her back to life. These efforts ultimately ended with his own death.^[1]

Trivia

Sylvia Drake's maiden name was originally identified as Spitfire with the release of the Five B.O.X.E.S. Event in 2014.^[2] In 2021, her family was expanded on more with the Triton Avenue Side Quest "A Scrap of Trouble", a First Time User Experience (FTUE) revamp of the former "Sylvia's Saga". This Quest identified Sandor Spitfire as her cousin.^[3] However, it was later clarified by Sam Johnson in September 2025 that the Spitfire surname and connection to Sandor were actually products of the corrupted timeline created by the Maestro, with the Quest taking place prior to the events of Five B.O.X.E.S. where the Wizard and the Professor restore the proper timeline, making the Quest non-canon after that point.^[4]
- Johnson also stated that the Spitfire surname was given to Sylvia after she was abducted by the Maestro, sent to Dragonspyre as an infant, and raised by House Spitfire. When the timeline was corrected, these events no longer took place.^[4]
- The adjustments to Sylvia Drake's history were made public after she was revealed to be a featured character in Ravenwood Academy: A Wizard101 Story from the playable demo at PAX West 2025.
