The Tutorial in Wizard101 says that famous Sorcerers include Cleopatra, Margaret Thatcher, and Merlin. It is assumed these individuals are considered non-canon as Cleopatra and Thatcher are from the real world, and Merlin is a fictional character from Arthurian Legend that Merle Ambrose is based on.
