Today’s focus is the Professor of the Fire School, Dalia Falmea.

Young Dalia Falmea couldn’t see what the big deal was about fire! Everyone in her family seemed so happy tending the flames of Avalon’s Ash Trees, but Dalia preferred to study the latest fashions out of Valencia with her father’s Crystal Orb. Fire seemed dull in comparison to haute couture.

So it was that Dalia found herself lost in the Wyrd one dreary day, unable to conjure up even a small ember to keep warm. Just as she was about to give in to despair, an old wizard happened by.

The wizard spoke of the simple joys of fire, and the life-affirming warmth of the hearth. He taught her a simple incantation and to her surprise, she conjured up a roaring blaze!

He praised her rare talent, and told her there was a school he had just opened where she could study magic and master her skills if she was willing.

Shortly thereafter, Dalia enrolled at Ravenwood. Although she toyed with the idea of studying another field of magic, and even briefly considered the School of Ice, she ultimately found herself placed in the School of Fire. A Fire Elf in the School of Fire was a natural fit, but somehow Dalia still couldn’t see what the big deal was about fire!

She saw the beauty of a Sunbird, but she couldn’t summon one. After watching Dalia’s third consecutive failure, Professor Memphis offered some sage advice. The trick with fire magic, he explained, is not to concern oneself with the heat of the flame, but rather with the passion of one's heart. With these words, Dalia's tiny ember of passion roared into a veritable bonfire of curiosity. Dalia became one of the most brilliant students of the flame school and went on to graduate with highest honors, as class Ignistorian!

Many years later, while Dalia was taking advanced study under the far-famed Pyromancer, Ignus Ferric, she received a letter from Ravenwood. Professor Memphis was returning to Krokotopia and he made a special request for Dalia to take on his duties.

She gladly accepted. Since then, Professor Falmea has garnered the respect of Pyromancers the Spiral over and holds the distinction of being the first graduate of Ravenwood to become a professor there.
