Welcome, young Wizards, to the class rolls of Ravenwood. Today’s focus is the Professor of the Myth School, Cyrus Drake. Cyrus and his twin brother Malistaire were born into one of the oldest and most respected wizard families of Dragonspyre, House Drake. Naturally, it was expected the brothers would follow tradition and become battle mages like their father, General Vladan Drake. However, at an early age Cyrus showed an aptitude for painting, with a focus on landscapes and "happy little volcanoes." At Dragonspyre Academy, Cyrus showed very little interest in the Fire magic that made his father's reputation, or the Death magic that Malistaire was drawn to. While Malistaire was winning praise, Cyrus preferred to spend his time painting or with his nose buried in a storybook. For "wasting time," he was berated by his teachers and earned his father's displeasure. It wasn’t until he witnessed his brother defeated by a canny Myth witch from Polaris that Cyrus began to take a serious interest in the magical arts. Fascinated by the powers of Myth he became a dedicated pupil, applying his love of reading to acquiring every bit of information he could. After completing his required service at Dragonspyre, Cyrus set off on a grand tour to study the various mythologies of the Spiral. He was on Aquila (carefully) interviewing Minotaurs when he received his invitation to teach at Ravenwood. He was delighted to find Malistaire and his wife, Sylvia, already at Wizard City. Cyrus has an unfortunate reputation as Ravenwood’s most difficult professor, but much of this is due to the exacting standards he holds everyone to, himself most of all! He has proven himself a great ally to Headmaster Ambrose and a fierce opponent to the forces of darkness in the Spiral time and time again.
