Pirate101: Plunder Hunt is a free-to-play mobile action game developed by Just Digital, a studio owned by gamigo, in collaboration with KingsIsle Entertainment. It is a spinoff from KingsIsle's previously released MMORPG Pirate101 and as such is part of the Spiral Games Universe, being the first mobile game to be released since Grub Guardian in 2013.[1] The game was released on the Google Play Store on October 19, 2023[2] and the Apple App Store on October 23, 2023,[3] with the formal announcement for the game coming on October 25, near the end of Pirate101's 11th anniversary month. Just Digital used their existing game Pirate Freedom - Sea Combat as the basis for Plunder Hunt,[4] with models and other assets from Pirate101 being added, as well as various other modifications done to fit the game's setting. According to KingsIsle, Plunder Hunt is intended to be an "initial test bed" to inform the studio about community interest in a Pirate101 mobile game as they explore avenues for expanding the Spiral IP, with the game being in a "very very early alpha state." As a thank you for helping test the game, players can receive a code for a free and exclusive Batacuda Mount variant in Pirate101 after progressing to a certain point, an alternate method of acquisiton being spending $1.99 in the game's store, though this only gives you a chance of getting the Mount.[5]
On January 11, 2024, KingsIsle announced that Plunder Hunt would be shut down on January 31, with the studio stating in the announcement that despite the game successfully serving its purpose as a "test bed," they had decided to "pursue other directions" in expanding the Spiral Games Universe going forward.[6]

Trivia[]
- Despite appearing in the app icon and some of the promotional material, Catbeard does not appear in the game. Instead, a recolor named Witty Whiskers does.
- Plunder Hunt is the first game officially tied to the Spiral Games Universe to have reused music from the MMOs by Nelson Everhart. The first in general to reuse his music was the 2020 mobile game RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone, which included tracks from Wizard101 but was not connected to the Spiral in any way. This even persisted when development continued under the spun-off WIMO Games and the game re-launched, though the music was quickly patched out.
