Mordekai is the Buccaneer trainer at the Buccaneer's Den, located in Avery's Court on Skull Island. The last known survivor of the Hammerhead clans that once ruled Skull Island after the fall of the Aztecosaurs and before the arrival of colonists from Marleybone and Monquista, Mordekai was at one point a prisoner on a Monquistan prison barge headed for the gladiatorial pens of Aquila before he was rescued by Captain Horace Avery during a raid. Mordekai followed Avery ever since, and was instrumental in the foundation of Skull Island Fort. He was entrusted with the security of the fort and eventually would begin teaching the next generation of Buccaneers in the way of the sword.[1]
