Malus, also referred to as "The Malus," is a manifestation of the hatred and prejudices of Wallaru which was created after Freddie Kroaker made his way into the Dreaming and used the dreams and nightmares of Wallaruans as part of his plan to fuel a monster and break down the Great Barrier to flood the Spiral in the Dreaming and restore the First World. After Freddie's plans were thwarted by the Wizard and their allies, Malus remained alive, continuing to corrupt the minds of Wallaru from the Dreaming and ruining the negotiations between the world's factions, threatening to send the entire world into a civil war. Fueled by the chaos he was sowing, Malus resided in the realm of the Dreaming known as the Nightmare. Morp, who had been affected by Malus herself, learned what was happening and tasked the Wizard with entering the Nightmare and destroying Malus. They would ultimately fight and defeat Malus, with the creature telling the victor that the peoples of Wallaru would call upon him again, and that hatred was their, and the Wizard's, true nature.[1]

- Malus was introduced in "The Nightmare," a Raid-like Dungeon or "Mini-Raid" which is accessed from The Dreaming and takes place after the events of the Wallaru storyline. The Challenge Mode version of the Dungeon released on Wizard101 live servers as part of the 530.1 game patch on January 29, 2024.[2]
