Jeffrey Todd Coleman, most well known as J. Todd Coleman or Todd Coleman, is an American video game developer and former Vice President and Creative Director of KingsIsle Entertainment from February 2005 to February 2013. With Josef T. Hall, he is the co-creator of the MMORPGs Wizard101 and Pirate101. Coleman served as the director of both titles and alongside Josef T. Hall was in charge of the stories for the games, with both also contributing to their design. Coleman departed KingsIsle in 2013. Since his departure, he has continued to interact with the KingsIsle games community and was even a featured interviewee for the docuseries Long Live the Spiral in 2020.

Biography[]

Early career (1985—1999)[]

Coleman started in the video game industry in 1985, when he was selected to be a Game Master for the dial-up adventure game Scepter of Goth. In college, Todd and his friends Josef Hall, James Nance, and Patrick Blanton were pioneers in text mudding and created and ran ChaosMUD, a derivative of DikuMUD. Coleman's first endeavour in the games industry was a database tools and technology company named Reliant Data Systems, which was sold to Compuware Corporation in 1999.

Wolfpack Studios (1999—2003)[]

He later founded Wolfpack Studios, and created Shadowbane, which was sold to Ubisoft Entertainment in 2003. They took full control of the title and ran it's servers until July 1st, 2009.

In May 2009, he was named the 6th Most Influential Person in Online Gaming by Beckett Magazine.

KingsIsle Entertainment (2005—2013)[]

Coleman founded KingsIsle Entertainment with Josef Hall in 2005, and soon after put Wizard101 into production.

While at the company, Coleman was the Creative Director of both Wizard101 and Pirate101.
