Lady Nightstar, known as the Grandmother Raven or simply Raven, is one of the oldest beings in the Spiral and the Primal Divine Force of Light and Order. She is the mother of Mellori, the sister of Bartleby, and the lover and ancient enemy of Grandfather Spider.
Biography
Grandmother Raven
Raven came into being at the beginning of the universe, created alongside her brother Bartleby and her lover/rival Spider. There may (or may not) have been a Creator who brought them into being. In any case, the Nothing existed before anything else but seems not to have interacted with them. At some point in time she and Spider created the Titan Trio, and she also gave Bartleby his Eyes. She claims to have wanted to teach the Titans to be a unified force for good, though it's possible that she was also trying to impose Order on them and not allowing them to be completely free to do what they wanted.[1]
After the destruction of the First World, Raven imprisoned Spider in the deepest hole she could find and used his heart and Bartleby's Song to create the Spiral. She once resided in the Hrundle Fjord in Grizzleheim, somehow becoming trapped by the Coven.
At some point she took out her love for Spider and formed it into Mellori, giving the child to Baba Yaga to take care of. This act, however, caused Raven to become increasingly cold and distant eventually coming to the decision that the Spiral must be destroyed to end the constant struggles and sorrows caused by Spider's chaotic heart. After seeing how her actions affected Storm, she was shocked back to normal and began to love again. She locked herself in the Primordial Forest with Spider.
