Gamigo AG, shortened and stylized as gamigo and also known as the gamigo group, is a European video game development and publishing company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. A subsidiary of Media and Games Invest, gamigo is the parent company of KingsIsle Entertainment ever since MGI purchased the studio in January 2021, and the company is therefore the co-publisher of both Wizard101 and Pirate101. Gamigo was founded in 2000, and has acquired several notable studios in the past such as Reakktor Media, developers of Black Prophecy, OnsOn Soft, developers of Fiesta Online, Aeria Games, developers of Aura Kingdom and Echo of Soul, and most notably Trion Worlds, developers of ArcheAge, Trove, Rift, and Defiance 2050. Most of these studios no longer exist, as their assets were merged into gamigo itself.[1]
For Wizard101, Lemuria was the first expansion that gamigo assisted with the development of, which was released on November 30, 2021.[2] Pirate101 received its first update under the management of gamigo on June 10, 2021 in the form of the "Sinbad Adventure" update, retroactively known as "Sinbad Chapter 1."[3] On October 27, 2023, gamigo studio Just Digital released the mobile game Pirate101: Plunder Hunt in collaboration with KingsIsle, marking the first time that KingsIsle has worked with another studio on a game.[4]
