Elik's Edge

Elik's Edge, where Elik jumped from many years ago.

Elik was a rogue early student of Ravenwood School of Magical Arts who allegedly stole relics from the Shopping District in Wizard City before he was pursued down the street. Elik then lept off of the edge at the east end and disappeared, never to be seen again.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Elik was first mentioned in a thread titled "Elik's Edge" on the Wizard101 Message Boards. On January 25, 2009, user Leapardcat posted, "Ok does anyone have a feeling they know how Elik's Edge was created if so feel free to tell us here." The thread did not get a reply until February 16, when user CS550 said, "Um there is no real explanation for Elik's Edge except that it's somewhere in the Shopping District thats really all I know a teacher could tell us the importance of Elik's Edge hopefully." That same day, Lydia Greyrose (Kiersten Samwell) responded and said "My students certainly know," in reference to the Ice quest "Introduction to Ice". On March 6, Merle Ambrose (J. Todd Coleman) said, "Elik's edge has been around for many, many years -- since the first world was broken and Wizard City was formed, in fact. It was named for one of the early students, a somewhat scandalous rogue of a spellcaster named Elik who allegedly stole relics from the shopping distict and, when pursued, lept from the cliff never to be seen again."[1]
  • It is possible that Elik's name was intended to be an homage to Wizard101 designer Rhea Shelley, who used the name playing various RPGs. The name Elik was used again for Elik Silverfist, the Master Merchant of the Bazaar, who was designed after Shelley and added to the game in the July 2009 Update, just four months after the lore behind Elik's Edge was officially revealed on the game's message boards. This has lead to speculation by players that the two characters are one in the same,[2] though it is more likely that they are separate as the development of the Bazaar and Elik Silverfist's character was probably done just after or concurrently with the post.
