Batacuda are a non-sentient species of fish in the Spiral. They are most prevalent in Skull Island, but are also found in Monquista in Tierra Primata Skyway. Some subspecies such as Void Fish are found outside their typical range. Batacuda are aggressive creatures that will board and attack ships in the skyway, and are even known to steal personal items from their victims.[1][2] Most Batacuda look generally similar, but have differently colored scales and fins depending on their environment.

Relations with other species[]

Culinary uses[]

In Skull Island, Batacuda are a staple food item for many, and their steaks are sometimes marinated before cooking.[3][4] Batacuda fins are used in making slumgullion stew[5] and their scales are used as an ingredient in some soup recipes.[6]

Transportation[]

Some especially large Batacuda are tamed and used as mounts for personal transportation.

Other uses[]

Batacuda teeth are an ingredient in some potion recipes made by the Water Moles of Wongo Woo.[7] Batacuda hides are sometimes used as a crafting material to make canteens.[8]

Trivia[]

  • "Batacuda" is a portmanteau of "bat" and "barracuda".
  • Stiletto Fish and Sky Gar appear extremely similar to Batacuda, but their taxonomical relation is unknown.
