Back East is a location in the Spiral. It is the place where many settlers came from, making their journey to Cool Ranch. It is home to several different Fowl: Chickens, Cranes, and Ducks.
History[]
"Wild Bill" Peacock and his parents journeyed from Back East to Cool Ranch, becoming some of the earliest Back East settlers there.[1]
After leaving home, Tyson happened upon Erasmus T. Morganstern, an eccentric doctor from Back East that peddled a medicine that would supposedly boost strength and health. This medicine, which would usually make Morganstern's customers violently ill, turned Tyson into a massive chicken with brute strength. Because of this, Morganstern paid Tyson to travel from town to town in Cool Ranch, giving testimonials and performing various feats of strength. Despite this, the medicine did not work for anyone else after Tyson, and Morganstern was driven out of Cool Ranch by angry customers.[2]
"Buffalo" Bill came from Back East, where he grew up and served as an Army Scout in the War Between the Flocks.[3]
Bat Masterson made his way Back East from Darkmoor after the Master, leader of his clan the Master's Sons, lost a feud against Shane von Shane. The locals had no patience for his full name, Barklementizov Masterson, and simply called him "Bat." Masterson was even discriminated against for his Darkmoor origins by the local Back East fowl, leading him to make the move to Cool Ranch.[4]
When the Birds began to settle in Cool Ranch from Back East,[5] Tonka urged caution in Bison tribal councils. The first contact with the strangers went badly, setting off a string of battles that ultimately drove the Bison back to the corners of Cool Ranch, away from their lands.[6]
