- "Hey, have you heard about Azoth? Maybe you even found some? I know, it sounds like some sort of eldritch entity that wants to eat your sanity... ...But it's actually a raw form of magic itself! In olden days, they say magic was different. There were no Schools, only this stuff called Azoth."

Primal Azoth.
Azoth is a primordial magical substance that is a raw form of magic itself. Before the schools of magic existed, it is believed that there was only Azoth. The substance can be used for various purposes such as repairing objects and there are also ways to transmute Azoth into specialized reagents for crafting, such as refined forms. Primal Azoth can be found in the form of Treasure Cards.[1]

Trivia[]
- Azoth was first introduced in the 2022 Summer Update for Wizard101.
- The mention by Abner K. Doodle of Azoth sounding like "some sort of eldritch entity that wants to eat your sanity" is most likely a reference to Azathoth, a deity appearing in stories by H.P. Lovecraft.
- Azoth in the real world is a pseudoscientific alchemical substance that was said by ancient alchemists to embody all medicines and the first principles for all other substances. It was sought after by alchemists and the goal of many alchemical works as it was believed to be an essential agent of transformation.
- The word azoth is Medieval Latin and is an alteration of azoc, which is derived from the Arabic al-zā'būq meaning "the mercury." Mercury was believed by ancient alchemists to be an animating spirit hidden in all matter which makes transmutation possible.
