The Arcanum is a secret magical academy located inside of a ship outside of the greater Spiral. The building was originally conceived as the Arkanum, a doomsday vessel that would carry a select few inhabitants of the Spiral away from their death as it would be merged into a restoration of the First World, its predecessor. The Arcanum would split into two during the Great Schism, when the scholars that opposed the construction of the Arkanum fought with the first group, later defeating and exiling them. The Arkanum finished construction, but became the Arcanum and was repurposed as a base for their studies and experiments.
