The Dasein Saga, better known as Arc 4[1][2] or Arc Four,[3][4] the 4th Arc,[5] or the Fourth Story Arc,[6] is the fourth and most recently completed storyline in the MMORPG Wizard101, developed by KingsIsle Entertainment. It began with the release of Karamelle in 2020, which was followed by Lemuria in 2021, Novus in 2022, and Wallaru in 2023. The fifth and final installment, Selenopolis, was released in 2024 and serves as an epilogue. The arc focuses on the Wizard and their relationship with Dasein (formerly referred to as "the Nothing") after he was introduced to the Spiral during the Wizard's climactic fight against the Aethyr Titan at the end of Arc 3.
The narrative lead for the Dasein Saga was Sam Johnson, with Johnson, Mike Sears, Anders Fischer, and Valerie Redd being the prominent writers for the arc.[7] The Dasein Saga is notably the first arc to be produced following KingsIsle's acquisition by Media and Games Invest in January 2021, although this was only the case with Lemuria onwards as Karamelle was entirely a pre-acquisition production,[8] and was also primarily produced remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The arc was also the first to not be produced with the involvement of either of the game's co-creators, after the departure of Josef T. Hall in July 2018. It is also the first arc to be five expansions in length since the Morganthe Saga, which concluded with the release of Khrysalis Part 2 over a decade prior in April 2014.[7]
