Arc 1, also known as the Malistaire Saga, is the first storyline in the MMORPG Wizard101 by KingsIsle Entertainment. It focuses on the story of former Ravenwood Death professor Malistaire Drake as he travels the Spiral in search of the Krokonomicon so that he may revive his deceased wife Sylvia after her untimely demise.
The arc began in 2008 with the release of the game and concluded with the release of Dragonspyre in 2009. It was followed by Arc 2 beginning with Celestia in 2010. The entire arc was directed by the game's creator, J. Todd Coleman, with the story by himself, co-creator Josef T. Hall, and James Nance.[1]
In July 2018, Wizard City was partially revamped for the 10th anniversary (Decaversary) of Wizard101, with the free-to-play areas of the Commons, Unicorn Way, the Shopping District, and Olde Town getting new graphics, sounds, and music.[2] The revamp continued in July 2019 with Crab Alley getting a graphical facelift. The update also marked the beginning of the FTUE (First Time User Experience) enhancements that revamped Wizard City's storyline through Olde Town.[3] This trend continued with FTUE story revamps of Olde Town and Triton Avenue in April 2020[4] and was finalized in July 2021 with the story revamps of Firecat Alley, Cyclops Lane, Dark Cave, and Nightside.[5]
